A transition specifies how the slide show advances from one slide to another. Click the Animations tab to display that ribbon. The middle of the ribbon displays a variety of transitions. When you place your mouse pointer over each one, a preview of the transition appears on your slide. To change the speed of the transition, click the down arrow next to Transition Speed on the Animations Ribbon. To apply the speed to all of the slides, go to the Animations Ribbon and click the Apply To All button. Chapter 3 Spotlight on Presentations

Animation is preset visual effects that determine the way text and other objects appear on the slide. There are more than 50 different animations to choose from. Click View to display that ribbon and click Slide Master. On the Custom Animation task pane, we can change the way objects appear on the slide, emphasize the object by adding a different animation, have it follow a motion path, or determine the way it exits the slide. You can also add effects by clicking on the Add Effect button from the task pane. Chapter 3 Spotlight on Presentations

Summary Transitions are used to help build excitement for the slides that follow, as well as to add closure to the previous slide. Different transitions can be added to different slides. You can advance through the slides by clicking your left mouse button or pressing the spacebar. The animation determines how text and other objects appear on the slide. Animating text helps the audience focus on the presentation and the current topic. It is best to choose only a couple animation effects for the entire presentation so as not to overwhelm your audience members. Timers can be set to allow the presentation to run automatically.
