Scholarship committees look at: GPA Honors, AP, and IB courses ACT, SAT I, and SAT II scores Involvement in clubs, activities, athletics, and community Work Family responsibilities ESSAY!!!

Where do I start? Largest scholarships come from the colleges!! Be sure to request the scholarship/financial aid applications when you apply For example, UNLV’s application for all types of scholarships is found on the web Each school has a specific way to apply – contact the financial aid office at individual schools for information Be aware of deadlines as they may be different from admission application deadlines Number 1 factor: courses/grades/test scores!

24 Deadlines and Presentation Are Important!
Remember there are hundreds/thousands of applicants. Often the only contact you have with the scholarship committee is your application. Read those directions! Don’t be late!

25 Millennium Scholarship
Graduate with a diploma from a Nevada high school with 14 Core Classes. Complete high school with at least a 3.25 weighted GPA. Resident of Nevada for at least two of your high school years. Will NOT pay 100% of your college expenses (less than 50% of tuition only!) Website:

27 NEW MILLENNIUM!! Assembly Bill 150: extends eligibility to students who do NOT meet the minimum GPA requirements, but who receive a certain score on a college entrance exam administered to the student while he or she is enrolled in a NV public or private school. ACT Composite 21 or higher SAT (reading & math) NOW or higher PRIOR to March 1, 2016 Senate Bill 128: increases from 6 to 9 the minimum number of credit hours in which a community college student must be enrolled in order to be eligible. The measure also increases the amount a student may receive for a semester from not more than 12 semester credits to not more than 15 semester credits.
