1 UEE Seminar Series Distinguished Speakers’ Hosted by School of Urban & Environmental Engineering Structural Behaviour of Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete Members Speaker : Seong-Cheol Lee KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS) Abstract In order to attain ductile behaviour even after cracking of concrete, steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) has been emerging as one of the most effective methods. However, most previous researchers focused on qualitative evaluation for the material behaviours of SFRC members through investigations on test results, so it is still required that more reasonable constitutive models for SFRC members with or without a conventional rebar should be developed in order to use of SFRC as a structural member. In order to reasonably predict the structural behaviour of SFRC members, the models for the monotonic compressive or tensile behaviour of SFRC members have been developed in this research. Then, the developed models have been expanded for the confined compressive and the cyclic tensile behaviours of SFRC members, respectively. The proposed models have been verified through the test results obtained from the extensive experimental program. In addition, with the consideration of variation of concrete matrix between cracks, which are due to steel fibres bridging a crack and the bond mechanism between a conventional rebar and SFRC, has been also proposed so that the tensile behaviour of SFRC members with a conventional rebar (R/SFRC) in tension could be accurately predicted. Based on the proposed models, it was investigated that the structural behaviour of R/SFRC members could be reasonably predicted. The proposed models and analysis procedure can be useful for an application of SFRC as a structural member.
