GCSEs can determine the sixth form you go to.
Your GCSE performance is usually a good indicator of how well you’ll do in A-level or other advanced studies – in fact, it’s the only real hard-and-fast evidence of your academic abilities a college has to go on
GCSEs may limit the courses and universities you can apply to
Because of the assumed connection between your GCSE and A-level results, it’ll be down to you to prove you’re able to achieve top grades. Bs and Cs at GCSE are suggestive of Cs and Ds at A-level – which won’t be enough to get into some universities.
They could affect the career you end up doing
A career-related degree may also have subject-specific entry requirements: Engineering courses such as chemical engineering: you’ll usually need A-levels or equivalent in chemistry and maths, and possibly physics, which in turn means you’ll need to have good GCSE grades
GCSEs determine the qualifications you take next
Some sixth forms may say you can’t do a particular subject unless you’ve got an A grade in that subject at GCSE.
All young people have to gain a pass (grade 4 or above) in both English and maths to be able to move on to employment before 18.

3. The Role of the Form Tutor
Running form tutor sessions to promote a positive start to the day
Managing uniform and equipment to maintain a consistent school identity
Taking the register to monitor attendance and ensure safety
Contacting parents to follow up pastoral issues and maintain home-school communication
Discussing thoughts for the week to encourage thinking and to promote school ethos
Liaising with pastoral office on attendance & punctuality to monitor and support attendance
Reading/displaying the bulletin to communicate important information
Distributing appointments to allow students to access the support offered within school

4. Form tutors to talk through how we came up with the core values puzzle (that it was student lead). They can also, time permitting, go through each piece or a select few to demonstrate the importacne to T&L and progress in school.

PGL Marchants Hill Trip in March to help students destress and revise
Year 11 Youth Connexion Interviews on Mondays and drop in sessions from 1:20 to 2:05 on the same day.
Constructive use of form time to help discover their personal strengths and skills and finding a suitable career path/sixth form studies to compliment them
The Bridge Program Year 11s have been provided with a goal tracker form to not only set goals but record and track subject specific goals

Discuss the reasons for setting targets early on and why that will focus the students by giving them something to aim for and keep reviewing through out the rest of their studies with us.
Explain why it is important to have dialogue with the subject teacher prior to setting targets. Parents can support their child by reviewing the targets and ensuring they are SMART targets and are going to be helpful when it comes to achieving a meaningful outcome.

Attendance target 97%
1 hour a week = 8 whole school days = 40 individual lessons missed
90% attendance results in 4 whole weeks of missed in one year
Over 5 years that results in ½ a school year being missed!
