(A) Haematological values: leukocytes (cells/mmc), lymphocytes (cells/mmc), platelets (102cells/mmc), Hb (g/dL). (B) Biochemical values: AST (IU/mL), ALT (IU/mL), ferritin (mg/dL). (C) Virological values: anti-B19V IgG and (IgM) as Index Values (EIA, DiaSorin, Italy), B19V DNA load in peripheral blood (* bone marrow sample) as IU/mL [7]. (D) Expression levels of MHC class II (HLA-DR) molecules on B cells (CD19+). Fresh peripheral blood was collected from the CFS patients and from 15 blood donors (Ctrl, obtained from the Blood Bank, S.Orsola-Malpighi University Hospital, Bologna, Italy). Blood samples were stained with monoclonal antibodies including peridinin chlorophyll protein (PerCP)-CD19 (eBioscience) and fluorescein isothiocyanate-HLA-DR (Miltenyi Biotec). After staining, the Red Blood Cell Lysis Solution (Miltenyi Biotec) was employed to lyse red blood cells. Samples were then acquired using a FACS Calibur System (Automated Flow Cytometer, BD Biosciences), and the BD CellQuest Pro Software for analysis. MFI: mean fluorescence intensity of MHC-II, relative units. Ctrl: group of 15 healthy donor samples; Pre: patient's samples at days 0 and 4 following first IVIG administration course; Post: patient's samples at week 4 following first IVIG and week 2 following second IVIG administration courses.
