Where do I go? Unless something changes over the summer, all 6th grade classes will be located on the “D” hall.

Who will my teacher be? Summer letters are not sent at middle school level. Students find out their teachers at Open House in August.

Students will either be on a 2-teacher, 3-teacher or 4-teacher team. 2-teacher team = Each teacher will teach your child 2 of the 4 subjects. 3-teacher team = Each teacher will teach your child 1 of the 3 subjects (Rdg/ELA, Math, Science) & also teach their homeroom Social Studies. 4-teacher team = Each teacher will teach your child 1 of the 4 subjects. Please encourage your child to get to know what each teacher expects. Classes Math Reading/Language Arts Science Social Studies
Students will have four academic classes: Math Reading/Language Arts Science Social Studies Students will also have two connection classes per 9 weeks.

Responsibility Please support us in this endeavor.
It is time to have students accept more responsibility for their work and their actions. Please support us in this endeavor.

School Supplies Please make sure your child comes prepared everyday of the school year with the proper supplies. Supply list will be provided to your child in their report card.

Textbooks Elementary – you had books to take home. We have class sets.
Math textbook - consummable We provide students with everything they need to be successful. Textbooks can be checked out if necessary – students are responsible for the book’s well being and safe return.

Organization Students must find a system that works for them to stay organized. One-system notebook Composition notebooks for each class Due to textbook issue, students will be given lots of handouts, worksheets, graphic organizers, and notes sheets. Planners – great way to keep up with assignments.

Lockers Students will be assigned a locker.
Must keep same locker all year -cannot trade Must keep same lock on locker all year –cannot trade or use own lock from home Need to keep locker organized and neat –items shouldn’t be falling out on others All bookbags, pe bags, or large shoulder bags should be put in locker in the morning and not taken out until time to pack up in the afternoon. This is a safety issue. BAGS ARE NOT TO BE IN CLASSROOMS. Organizers/shelves/magnets are acceptable. No stickers.

Practice Makes Perfect
We will practice changing classes. We will practice with their new combination locks. Please come with listening ears so you can learn our procedures.

Lunchroom Expectations: Appropriate behavior Controlled volume
Keep check on $ in account No outside food can be brought into school. Respect to lunch staff.

Privileges are just that.
Ice cream Tues & Thur Concession stand Wed & Fri Outside break Daily after lunch (10 minutes) Privileges are just that. Any or all of these may be taken away for inappropriate behavior at the teacher’s discretion.

Homework Math homework: At least 3 times a week Other subjects:
Will assign as needed Need to always read or study. . . Accelerated Reader: AR is part of your child’s ELA grade!

Grades Please encourage your child to start from Day 1 being successful – this means turning in all work on time Infinite Campus – great way for checking on your child’s grades “in between” progress reports and report cards. One progress report (at 4 ½ weeks) and one report card will be sent home EACH 9 weeks. Dates will be on school calendar.

What is fashionable isn’t always appropriate for school.
Dress Code No sagging pants Straps on tank tops must be 3-4 fingers wide. No low cut shirts showing chest area (mainly girls) No holes in pants/frayed areas above knee Shorts/skirts length – 3 inches above knee or longer No leggings under short shirt/dress/skirt What is fashionable isn’t always appropriate for school. Please remember that elementary dress code is different than middle school.
