Podcasting Podcast Defined:
Audio content that is delivered via an RSS feed presenting a downloadable or streaming file (often mp3). An iPod inherently allows users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription. Other mp3 players may or may not have the same capabilities. RSS Feed Defined: An XML based file which provides a method of syndicating and aggregating Web content. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It allows information to be published in a standard XML format that can be accessed via a URL.

What do I need to create a podcast?
A recorded audio file is all you will need to provide to create your own podcast. Blackboard provides Service to provide the RSS link Location to place the podcast link created by the service Location to store the podcast file

What would I use a Podcast for?
Record and broadcast regular class lectures and have students listen to the lectures prior to coming to class. Class time can then be used to expand upon the lectures and to engage students in a discussion of the lecture material. Provide lectures, performances, speeches, and other audio or video that supplements course materials. For language instruction, record the proper pronunciation of words and provide the recordings to students for practice outside of class. Have students record themselves giving a presentation, reciting poetry, or presenting any other audio/visual materials to practice presentation and delivery skills. Add the recordings to online course environment, and allow other students to provide feedback. My favorite use is the reflective journal for a student. It gives the student a
