Behavior expectations are simply what we expect to see on campus at Acacia You will learn the specific behavior expectations for every area of campus Learning these expectations are crucial for the social culture and safety on our campus When all of us follow the expectations, learning goes up, up, up! Acacia has always had Cougar Pride, now we have added another phrase to help you remember these important behavior expectations: Positive Accountable Working Hard Safe What does it mean to you to be “positive?” What does it mean to you to be “Accountable?” What does it mean to you to be “Working Hard?” What does it mean to you to be “Safe?” Advisory Back to Contents

6 What happens when you follow behavior expectations
You will be rewarded! When staff catch you following behavior expectations, they will give you Cougar Cash With your Cougar Cash, you can purchase cool items at the ASB store Cougar Cash also gets you entered into a drawing for prizes. There is no limit to the amount of Cougar Cash you can earn! This year you can earn $100, $500, and $1000! First Period Back to Contents

ASB Store: Candy, Arizona Drinks, Soda, Takkis/Hot Cheetos, Snapple, Fruit by the Foot, McDonald’s Happy Meal, Spirit Clothes Teachers: Homework pass, Wear a hat for a class period, Leave for Lunch early, PE Loaner Pass, Use Rolling Chair, Help Present a Lesson,15 Minutes Free Time, Wear Sunglasses, Be in Advisory Video, Sit in Teacher’s Chair Principal: Principal Wear a Wig, Be an Office Aide for a Period, Help Custodian, TA with Yard Supervisor for a Period First Period Back to Contents

8 2017 – 2018 Active Discipline Plan
Acacia Middle School 2017 – 2018 Active Discipline Plan Level 1 – First Student Reflection/Intervention Teacher reteaches desired behavior; provides an invitation to self-correct; modifies assignment; uses teacher proximity, visual prompt, or other strategy and Student completes first reflection Level 2 – Second Student Reflection/Intervention Student completes second reflection in alternate classroom Student is re-admitted to class upon completion and desired behavior is re-taught by teacher Teacher contacts parent/guardian Level 3 – Third Student Reflection/Intervention Student completes reflection in counselor’s office, is re-taught desired behavior, and returns to class Level 4 – First Teacher Referral and 30 minute detention Teacher completes the referral assigning 30 minute detention for next day and re-teaches desired behavior Teacher contacts parent/guardian to report behavior and schedule detention time/date Teacher schedules meeting with parents/counselor as needed Level 5 – Administrative Referral Teacher completes administrative referral Administrator issues consequences and contacts parent/guardian First Period Back to Contents

Positive Use kind words with appropriate language and volume Be tolerant, respectful, and accepting of all people aka: Drama Free Accountable Store electronic devices appropriately Report to assigned classroom on time Respect property and report property damage immediately Working Hard Bring all supplies to school Clean up after yourself Be on task and give your best effort Safe Walk safely in all designated areas Wear appropriate, approved clothing Keep hands and feet to yourself Report unsafe behavior immediately First Period Back to Contents

Positive Get along with others – smile! Assist and welcome visitors, new students, and staff Accountable Walk purposefully-facing forward and keep paths clear Carry a valid hall pass when on errand Working Hard Quickly dress and move to the next designated area Clean up after yourself Safe Stay in designated areas while waiting for bell to ring Walk safely to your next designation Second Period Back to Contents

Positive Wait your turn respectfully in line Be kind to peers and staff Invite others to join you Accountable Pick up and dispose of all trash Eat in quad area only Working Hard Pay attention and move through line quickly and efficiently Choose healthy foods Safe Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself Report spills Stay in supervised areas Third Period Back to Contents

Positive Be a good sport – Accept victory and defeat with grace Offer positive ideas for games and activities Accountable Pay attention to those around you Keep P.E. equipment in designated areas Clean up after yourself Working Hard Follow directions Wait your turn Put forth your best effort Safe Run only in designated areas Refrain from horseplay and/or physical contact Use equipment appropriately Fourth Period Back to Contents

14 Behavior expectations for Arrival and Departure
Positive Start fresh each day with a positive attitude! Offer assistance when needed and be polite Accountable Lock your bike/scooter/skateboard and be on time each day Stay in designated areas before/after bell Clear walkways promptly – head straight to your next designation Working Hard Keep your backpack and supplies with you at all times Be conscious of those around you Safe Look both ways before walking at designated crossings When on campus: ALWAYS walk bikes, skateboards, and scooters Fifth Period Back to Contents

15 Behavior expectations for Computer labs and library
Positive Share equipment Help others if you have permission Accountable Keep area neat and in condition you found it Take great care of books and return when due Replace books to where they belong Working Hard Study Compute Read Write Safe Push in chairs Walk to our seat Use technology appropriately and report defective or broken equipment Sixth Period Back to Contents

16 Behavior expectations for restrooms
Positive Allow others privacy Use appropriate language and tone Don’t get involved in conversation and/or gossip Accountable Use the restroom during passing period, wash hands, and return to class promptly Do not waste or misuse facilities and supplies (soap) Working Hard Keep area clean Use restroom appropriately and return to your class promptly Safe Report spills and messes immediately Report inappropriate activity If restroom is crowded, report to supervisor and wait outside for your turn Sixth Period Back to Contents
