3 Agenda Why Optiflow? How does it work?
What will change? (for all shippers) How can you optimize the use of optiflow? (for multipoint shippers) Planning September 2016

4 Your need: to reduce the impact of maintenance
GRTgaz is implementing an action plan to reduce the impacts of maintenance (GT structure 2016 June the 2nd ) 2 principal lines: Technical: inter-operators coordination, minimization of margins for the maintenance schedule, temporary repair Commercial: within-day capacity release, Optiflow September 2016

5 Capacity offer is not maximised during maintenance
You need: increased availability of capacities during maintenance periods flexibility: In order to chose the best route among your sourcing schemes Until within day (short term optimization) visibility on the available capacity on D day While GRTgaz current offer: restrictions are given by Contractuel Point whereas the real physical constraints sometimes impact several points Some capacities remain unused whereas the demand is here September 2016

6 Our solution: Optiflow
to maximise and optimize the use of your capacities during maintenance periods In case of maintenance on the core of the network, the restriction is mutualized on several points (called «Superpoints» ), giving you more flexibility on each point... Maintenance on Cuvilly (core network) Maintenance on Dunkerque IP: direct impact on DK IP capacities. Optiflow is not applicable Indirect impact on IPs. Optiflow is offered September 2016

7 Agenda Why Optiflow? How does it work?
Mutualizing the constraint A few examples: 2 entries, 1 exit, « by shipper » The main principles The 4 superpoints in 2017/18 What will change? (for all shippers) How can you optimize the use of optiflow? (for multipoints shippers) Planning September 2016

8 How does it work? Flexibility gain
With Optiflow, the available capacity (CTE) is given on a group of points called « Super-Point ». A « Superpoint » can be constituted of PIR or PITTM Without Optiflow Capacity availability Max X = 250 Max Y =250 GRTgaz decides for the Shippers With Optiflow Max (X+Y) = 500 Shippers can choose their points Example : Nom X= 450 / Nom Y = 50 Superpoint « X + Y » Firm subscribed capacity = 500 Firm subscribed capacity = 500 PIR X PIR Y Remaining Capacity during maintenance = 500 Max Capacity = 1000 Flexibility gain September 2016

9 With an exit, more entry capacity!
Superpoint : « TH + Ober (-Oltingue) » Maintenance on Cuvilly It also works with backhaul Capacity gain And also the choice between Ober and TH… September 2016

10 With an exit, more entry capacity!
Maintenance on Cuvilly example of restriction TH + Ober < Oltingue Capacity Restrictions On the entries Entries Exit TH Ober Oltingue Without Optiflow The restrictions are distributed by point on subscriptions pro-rata Exit nominations are not considered Max entry Capacity 300 Hypothesis : 0 With Optiflow No restriction by point A mutualized restriction to respect The nominations are taken into account! Max entry Capacity TH + Ober < Oltingue ∑ Nominations example of use 600 100 You have more entry capacity when nominating on exit You have flexibility on the entry points You can maximise the use of your favorite point Capacity: 700 > 600 ! Flexibility: 600 > 300 ! September 2016

11 How does it work « by shipper »
How does it work « by shipper »? for the Superpoint : « TH + Ober (- Oltingue)» With Maintenance: « TH + Ober (- Oltingue) » < 600 Without Maintenance: 1200 COS GWh/j Capacité Opérationnelle Effective : COS GWh/j COE = COS x TRF sp 600 600 All Shippers COE GWh/j Shipper A Restriction CTE = 600 GWh/j => TRf sp = 50 % 600 200 Olt 100 TH Ober 100 300 150 200 ∑ Entries : « TH + Ober » ∑ Entries : « TH + Ober » For the Shipper A One individual restriction to respect : TH + Ober < Nominations Exit Oltingue TH Ober Oltingue Without Optiflow Max 100 Max 50 example of use With Optiflow 50 100 200 September 2016

12 Optiflow main principles (1/2)
You still subscribe capacity and nominate on the contractual points The « Superpoints » are only used to display the mutualized restrictions September 2016

13 Optiflow main principles (2/2)
Optiflow is activated in case of CTN restriction (CTEsp < CTNsp) Then, no more capacity (DA&WD) is sold on the entry points of the Superpoint Optiflow is applied by shipper you have more visibility The UBI is calculated by Superpoint Accessible to all shippers Your nominations are optimized to respect the restrictions Initial nominations (curtailed to COE) pro-rata and then are matched with the adjacent TSO For each nomination cycle September 2016

14 Optiflow 2017/2018 : 4 Superpoints
September 2016

15 After 2018, one Single Market Place
As of 2018 November the 1st: Single Market Place Our network’s limits will be managed with superpoints, to give you more flexibility Until 2018, 2 market places After 2018, one Single Market Place If we reach a limit, the impacts are transferred upstream or downstream from the limit The limits’management is mutualized on groups of points = the Superpoints! If we reach a limit, the N>S Link is impacted PEG NORD TRS September 2016 Exit PCR / Entry PCR

16 Optiflow: the simulator
To help you to understand how it works GRTgaz developed a simulator Video 1 September 2016

17 Agenda Why Optiflow? Who is concerned? How does it work?
What will change? (for all shippers) The maintenance schedule display: mutualized restrictions The UBI: extended to superpoints How can you optimize the use of optiflow? Planning September 2016

18 What will change? 1. The maintenance schedule publication and display
For all shippers The restrictions will be displayed: by point for maintenance impacting one single point (individuel restriction) by Superpoint for core network maintenance, impacting a Superpoint The restriction on a Superpoint is only applied to Entry points. Exit points are considered like bonus when you nominate. To know the restriction on one point, you will have to take into account: restrictions on this single point and restrictions on the superpoints including this point you still subscribe capacity and nominate by point Video 2 September 2016

19 1 Individual + 2 Superpoints
What will change? 1. The maintenance schedule publication and display Example 3.1 of the Simulator In this example, TH has 3 restrictions: 1 Individual + 2 Superpoints The COE or COEsp values are surrounded by red when restrictive (< COS) September 2016

20 What will change? 1. The maintenance schedule publication and display
The same example if you only have capacity on DK: DK has no individual restriction but 2 Superpoint restrictions Your restriction on DK = min (14,38) = 14 GWh/j Current situation: September 2016

21 What will change? 1. The maintenance schedule publication and display
This new display is applied on all maintenance publications (ACO, BCO, PCO, PTC…) More lines are added corresponding to Superpoints data (CMNTt…) If you search one point: this point and all Superpoints including this point appear Extract from the maintenance schedule: September 2016

22 What will change? 2. The UBI extended to Superpoints
For all shippers If a Superpoint is activated, the UBI is applied on this Superpoint. Example: The shippers did not used the full capacity of TH+Ober. 100 GWh/d remain unused. These 100 are offered via UBI on the Superpoint TH+Ober. If you have only subscribed TH: you can nominate more on TH (you will also benefit from the unused capacity on Ober) If other shippers nominate on an exit included in the SP: you have more UBI on TH+Ober September 2016

23 What will change? 2. The UBI extended to Superpoints
Vigilance issue with UBI for « multipoints shippers »: Using UBI might prevent you from maximising one point! Example: - If you want to maximise TH (50) and ask for UBI (20) on Ober: it is not possible to separate your « firm » demand and your UBI demand. - So, if you nominate your max on TH and your UBI demand on Ober, your UBI allocation will be reallocated on both points because of the redistribution rule to initial demand prorata. In this example you only have 43 on TH instead of 50… Note that a fully allocated UBI demand has no impact on the distribution of your programmation (« firm » and UBI). September 2016

24 Agenda Why Optiflow? How does it work?
What will change? (for all shippers) How can you optimize the use of optiflow? (for multipoints shippers) How to maximise your favorite point? How to take advantage of your exits and backhaul? Lets understand how nominations are curtailed Planning September 2016

25 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
1. How to maximise your favorite point? (flexibility gain) Optiflow gives you flexibility: you can now maximise your favorite point Example: You can maximise DK up to min (50;73) = 50 GWh/j And then you can still nominate up to min (73-50; 27) = 23 GWh/j in TH Or : You can maximise TH up to min (27;73) = 27 GWh/j And then you can still nominate up to min (73-27; 50) = 46 GWh/j in DK September 2016

26 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
The « nomination screen » of the simulator helps you to calculate the maximum quantity you can nominate on each point. Example : Before nominating: Max Qty on a point = min coe (point and sp) DK: 27; TH: 35; Ober: 24 September 2016

27 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
The « nomination screen » of the simulator helps you to calculate the maximum quantity you can nominate on each point. The « Maximum quantity » value and the « Remaining quantity » value are updated in real time with your nominations on the others points : Video 3 September 2016

28 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
2. How to take advantage of your Exits and Backhaul? Video 4 Nominating a quantity on an Exit and on Backhaul allows you to nominate the same quantity more on the entry points included in the same Superpoint. In this example: Nominating 10 on Alveringem allows you to nominate 10 more on DK or TH DK + TH ≤ 73 - Alv = = 83 The additonial quantity allowed by nominating on an Exit/Backhaul point of a Superpoint is taking into account by the SI system on the following nominations cycle. In this example : Nominating 10 on Alveringem on cycle n allows you to nominate 10 more on DK or TH on cycle n+1 September 2016

29 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
3. Lets understand how nominations are optimized (on a simple example) Optiflow curtails by rising levels of COE, from the COE by point to the COEsp of the biggest Superpoint. Main principles: Optimisation by increasing level Level 0: individual points Level 1: « small » SP including no other SP Level 2: « big » SP including another SP For each level, curtailments are made to « nominations curtailed to COE » pro-rata (+ re-distribution if needed in Level 2) Video 5 Level 2 Level 1 Level 0 September 2016

30 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
3. Lets understand how nominations are curtailed (on a simple example) September 2016

31 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
3. Lets understand how nominations are curtailed (on a simple example) There is no restriction on individual points, Level 0 = max (Nomination, COE). Only DK is curtailed: SP DKLNG + DK: = 70 > 45, so each point is curtailed to level 0 pro-rata SP DKLNG + DK-ALV+TH: = 85 < 89, so no need to curtail September 2016

36 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
3bis. Lets understand how nominations are curtailed (on more complex examples) GRTgaz optimises your nominations so that if you are curtailed, the rest can be distributed on other points, using the superpoints flexibility. Main principles: Optimisation by increasing level Level 0: individual points Level 1: « small » SP including no other SP Level 2: « big » SP including another SP (+ re-distribution if needed) Level 2 Level 1 Level 0 September 2016

37 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
Management of the overlaps case: 4 main steps: Step 1: optimisation of each « side » of TH separately (TH is in the middle of « overlaps ») Step 2: selection of TH flow value = min TH (North Side; South Side) Step 3: calculation of the quantity to be redistributed Step 4: redistribution (to « level 0 » pro-rata, taking into account the restrictions) North side South side September 2016

38 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
3bis. Lets understand how nominations are curtailed (on more complex examples) Ex 1: Re-distribution in level 2 Ex 2: Overlaps with a lot of subscribed points Ex 3: Overlaps with 2 subscribed points September 2016

39 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
Example 1: Re-distribution in level 2 September 2016

40 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
Example 1: Re-distribution in level 2 No restriction on individual points, Level 0 = max (Nomination, COE). Level 1: =200 > 50; so, curtailment to level 0 pro-rata Level 2: = 150 > 135; so, curtailment to level 0 pro-rata But: 45 > 25, so curtailment to 25, and there are twice 45-25= 20 to redistribute on the other point of the superpoint On TH: =85 <100, so it is ok

41 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
Example 2: Overlaps with a lot of subscribed points September 2016

42 3. The optimization of your nominations – complex example
Step 1: optimisation of each « side » of TH separately 1. North of TH 2. South of TH Level 0: min (Nomination, COE) No Level 1 (= sp dklng + dk) Level 2: = 110 > = 98 So each point is curtailed to level 0 pro-rata; ex: DK: 50 * 98 / 110 = 44,4 Step 2: selection of TH flow value 36 Step 4: redistribution (to « level0 » pro-rata, taking into account the restrictions) Distribution on the side with max value of TH Max by point = level0 - level2 so all cannot be distributed Step 3: calculation of the quantity to be redistributed (44-36) September 2016

43 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
Example 3: overlaps with 2 points subscribed September 2016

44 How to optimise the use of Optiflow
Example 3: overlaps with 2 points subscribed Step 1: optimisation of each « side » of TH separately Step 2: selection of TH flow value Step 3: calculation of the quantity to be redistributed (44-36) Step 4: redistribution (to « level0 » pro-rata) Be careful: the COEsp of 6 GWh/d on SPn°2 is not like an individual restricition on TH for the optimization of your nominations.
