Prisms, Pyramids, Cones, and Cylinders! Oh My! Kathleen Wilder Howard Middle School
2
Prisms
3
Prisms Prisms have 2 congruent bases.
The faces of a prism are parallelograms. We are going to study the rectangular prism. Rectangular Prisms have 8 vertices. Rectangular Prisms have 6 faces. Rectangular Prisms have 12 edges.
5
Pyramids
6
Pyramids Pyramids have 1 base.
Pyramids have triangular side faces that meet at one vertex. We are going to study the square pyramid. Square pyramids have 4 faces. Square pyramids have 5 vertices. Square pyramids have 8 edges.
8
Cylinders
9
Cylinders Cylinders have two bases that are circles.
The two bases are congruent and parallel. A cylinder has one face. A cylinder has two edges. A cylinder has no vertices.
11
Cones
12
Cones A cone has a circular base. A cone has one edge.
A curved surface connects the base to the vertex. A cone has one vertex.
