4 I Believe … Life is not a practice run – 1st time
Appropriate Technology gives us more time If we employ the right technology, our efficiency will grow, which will give us more time, to do what we want to do. 4

5 The JNH Software Vision

6 The agenda for today is …
Paperless Office How Does Your Business Operate Get Connected Your Desktop is at Your Fingertips What Software (apps) What Hardware Data Storage Passwords Questions. 6

7 1 Paperless Office By this I mean: Minimal filing cabinets
Scan everything No note pads No paper diary etc 7

8 2. How Does Your Business Operate
In your business do you need to: Spend 90% of your time at your desk in your office. Spend 90% of your time on the road, visiting clients and suppliers. Somewhere in between, staying flexible. 8

9 3. Get Connected How do you intend to communicate:
with Clients, Staff & Suppliers. Get your Domain like JNHSoftware.com.au Hence web site And Desktop SMS Desktop and Mobile Broadband 9

10 4. Desktop at Your Fingertips
or 10

11 5. Software - To Do What ? Diary Note Pad Maps and directions Mail

12 5. Software To Do What ? Diary = iPad / iPhone Calendar, devices, shared Note Pad = Notes, into CRM, searchable CRM = OTOB or others Maps = Google Maps, audio directions, fastest route Mail = a discrete address for the device Browser = Have multiple (Safari & Chrome) Documents = DocsToGo & Office 365 & Google Docs Sales & Accounting = MYOB, Xero or Triumph Other Business specific software = ?? 12

14 6. What Hardware Get the right hardware:-
- Desktop, Laptop, iPad/Tablet, iPhone Does it need to be mobile? While mobile – how much horsepower? Price vs Performance (eg Bauhn) 6. What Hardware 14

15 7. Data Storage Do NOT hold the only copy of important documents or photos in one place Especially NOT on the iPad. iPads are for COPIES only Backups? 15

16 8. Passwords Do NOT trust your memory
Use different password for different logins A good password has U/Case + L/Case + Num + Special Use a code to hide the password in plain sight HOW Make a list of words with a UNIQUE first letter ….like this 16

17 His wife’s name is Helen, and she was born in 1970
Example 1: Mr Peter Alan Smith His wife’s name is Helen, and she was born in 1970 His son’s name is Tom, and was born in 2002 His wife’s mother’s name is Samantha Jane Slattery We now pick out all the words with unique first letters and ignore all the ambiguous ones like: S in Smith, Samantha and Slattery Now we can write a CODE that reminds us of the PASSWORD CODE PASSWORD Hence: HpA2 translates to: HELENpeterALAN2002 Hence: tHj1 translates to: tomHELENjane1970 And you can write the code in plain sight. 17

18 Example 2: – Credit Card PIN Favourite number between 1 & 4
This number corresponds to the position of the numbers on your card. So you can look at the card to see the PIN. Now each Card has a different PIN Therefore: If favourite Number is 3 Card Number: PIN: 18
