7. Preparation process
Attorneys: you will receive a handout that will request an opening statement, questions for each witness and a closing statement. The two teams, prosecution and defense, will assign, within their teams, which attorneys will deal with which assignment. For example: who will work on the opening statement, who will work on questions, etc.
Witnesses: you will prepare statements about your characters indicating your role in the lives of Romeo and Juliet and you will prepare for possible questions given to you by the attorneys. you will work on anticipating the questions to be asked of you and possible defense, alibis, etc. A handout will be filled out for this preparation.
Jurors: you will spend their time working alongside the journalists in creating a collection of social media responses to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet and the involvement of Friar Lawrence. you will act as the citizens of Verona and provide interviews to the journalists and make posts of how the society in Verona is reacting. There will be a newsfeed, a twitter feed, a facebook page and an online blog.
Journalists: you will work alongside Jurors by interviewing them and contributing to the social media responses to the pending trial. These responses will ultimately be part of The Verona Times.
