3 Introduction for SCADA, DCS and PLC connections methods
SCADA, DCS and PLC are 3 examples for system we can communicate with through different ways. There are two different ports for analog output and digital output which we can use in parallel, the analog output used for 4-2mA while the digital output is RS485 (to Modbus RTU or 3DVision). Another option it to communicate through the 3DVision software to the SCADA or DCS.

4 Analog output for PLC (4-20 mA).
Simple connection of the 4-20mA analog output to the PLC by default the 4-20mA will represent the volume of material inside the silo (in 5708LNN it will be average level). The output can be configure by the 3DVision under current output settings

5 Modbus RTU directly to scanner.
Requires the serial card in the SCADA/DCS to be set to 115kbps There are 13 different variables that can be requested from the scanner. The serial connection must be daisy-chain to all scanners (limited to 64 units) requires 120Ohmresistors on both ends Note: This is the method described in the Reference manual. not compatible with Multi-scanner system.

6 Modbus TCP to the 3DVision server.
Connecting the SCADA/DCS to the 3DVision Server that is managing all scanners and all silos: The 3DVision Server (hardware and application) is located between the SCADA/DCS and the scanners, the 3DVision polls all data, The SCADA/DCS can call each of the Vessels (not scanners in this case) data It is possible to run 3DVision Clients in parallel for both monitoring and configuration / fine tuning.

7 Modbus TCP for multi-scanner system.
The Controller/3DVision Server are mandatory in order to synchronize all scanners. The System controller is an industrialized computer that runs the 3DVision Server in order to manage the multi scanner system. Collect all data and execute unique 5708 system algorithms to calculate the total volume of the vessel. Similarly to Modbus TCP, clients can run in parallel to SCADA/DCS connection.

8 “SCADA tester” application.
SCADA tester is an application which simulate a SCADA system and read registers from the 3DVision/scanner. The SCDA tester can simulate Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU. Before configuring a SCADA/DCS a test with SCADA tester should run with the same communication details.
