14 ARCP outcome Should not come as a surprise
The outcome of the ARCP will determine the rate at which you progress through your training programme If you consistently underperform or fail to supply sufficient evidence to ARCP you may be asked to relinquish your National Training Number The ARCP also provides a mechanism for determining CCST dates

15 ARCP outcomes Satisfactory Progress
Development of specific competences required: additional training time not required Inadequate progress: additional training time required Released from training programme with or without specified competences Incomplete evidence presented: additional training time may be required Gained all required competences: will be recommended as having completed the training programme and for award of a CCST Outcome 8. Out of programme for research, approved clinical training or a career break (OOPR/OOPT/OOPC)

21 Turas Turas is a digital system which supports the training and administration of over 6000 Medical and Dental trainees in NHS Scotland.

23 Teaching Programme Each specialty has its own didactic teaching programme. Some of which may be of value to trainees in other specialties. In addition there are: Specific courses for StRs available from NES eg LaMP (Leadership and Management Programme) Training for Dental Educators NES courses and e-learning for dentists available on Portal NHS online learning available through LearnPro Royal College courses eg Critical Appraisal Specialist Society meetings

27 Raising concerns Everyone involved in specialty training wishes to create an open and supportive environment where concerns can be raised and managed appropriately. We endeavour to: • ensure that systems are in place through which you can confidently raise concerns • ensure that concerns raised are taken seriously • maintain confidentiality if and where appropriate • investigate properly and make an objective assessment of the concern • keep you advised of progress • ensure that action to resolve a concern is taken and monitored • encourage you to follow your local authority safeguarding policy and that of the organisation.

28 Raising concerns If your concern is to do with how you are being treated at work please follow your local health board Grievance or Dignity at Work Policy. In conjunction, speak with your trainer, advisor and/or educational supervisor for additional support. For other concerns: Check local health board policy Raise your concern internally Ask for an action plan and timeframe Ask for feedback Escalate your concern if necessary
