What are prepositions? Preposition: words that link nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in a sentence. A preposition usually indicates the temporal, spatial or logical relationship of its object to the rest of the sentence. For example: Pam is running towards Bill. The man walked across the bridge. Liz went through the tunnel.

Types of Prepositions There are three types of prepositions:
Prepositions of Time Prepositions of Place Prepositions of Movement

Prepositions of Time Prepositions of time indicate when something happens and how long it this action will last. These prepositions answer the question WHEN? Example: I will go to football practice in the afternoon.

Prepositions of Place Prepositions used to indicate where something is located. These prepositions answer the question WHERE? Example: The dog sat on the grass.
