9 To make your child`s Attainment 8 score as high as possible we are:
Moving history and geography, for all Year 10 students studying these courses, onto the new 9-1 GCSE and continuing the course on 3 hours per week into Year 11 Providing an opportunity for some students who are studying French, Spanish or computer science in Year 10 on the A*-G GCSE, to take the new 9-1 GCSE in Year 11 Providing an opportunity for more students to sit triple science - Physics, Chemistry, Biology - in Year 11 Giving extra time to maths and English in Year 11 for students who need it The impact of these reforms means we need to make changes now to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. Expect history and geography results to be up to a grade higher than if students take the exam in Y10. Students can take both the A*-G GCSE (y10) and the 9-1 GCSE in MFL (y11) if necessary Rest assured, we will not compromise the outcomes for students in the key subjects of English and maths

10 Why are we making these changes now ?
These new GCSE 9-1 courses in were not available when students chose their options in Spring 2015 They only became available to start teaching this September

11 Points to consider….. … at Grade 5+
English Baccalaureate GCSE English GCSE Maths GCSE Science × 2 Humanities – GCSE History or Geography Language – GCSE French, Polish or Spanish … at Grade 5+

12 Further Year 10 into 11 IAG In the Spring term all students will have an individual interview with a senior member of staff to create a personalised pathway for Year 11.

13 And finally … The Year 10 and 11 examination results will be yours forever so make them great.
