9. Baptism
Key Point: Remember, baptism does not wash away your sin. Only Jesus can do that! It does not make you believe—it shows that you already believe in Christ. Like a wedding ring, it tells others that you are joined to Christ and Christ alone.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8, 9
What is the method of baptism?

Though Jesus never asked His disciples to remember His birth, He did tell them to remember His death and resurrection. These two ordinances or symbols (baptism and the Lord’s Supper) are visual reminders of His death for us.

“For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:
The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’ For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” I Corinthians 11:23-26
