2 History of Your Chapter: Year You are one of the first members! Your charter date is January 1, 2016! You are a member of the first new NCSHRM chapter in 20 years! You created the chapter to serve HR professionals working or living in the Lake Norman area! You are collaborating with HR professionals across the state & around the lake You are making LKNHR’s history right this minute. What do you want it to be?

4 Purpose of LKNHR To recognize, promote, and enhance the human resources profession by providing leadership, professional development, and  networking opportunities for members, non-members, partners, and local businesses. To communicate the activities and accomplishments of the HR profession, LKNHR, and its members to the business community. To provide leadership and information concerning state and national legislative issues important to HR and the business community.

Position: President & Career Strategist Company: Compass Career Management Solutions, LLC Why HR? HR can, and does, positively impact company results through the strategic use of human capital. Philosophy: Always look at the big picture. Lead, collaborate, participate, or get out of the way. Bill’s role as President is to serve as the CEO of the chapter to guide the officers and directors in developing and achieving the chapter’s goals and objectives. Key components of his role include serving and supporting chapter members, growing the chapter, board succession planning, and promoting the HR profession.

9 Dawn Rogers, SHRM-CP, PHR President-Elect
Position: HR Business Partner Company: Delhaize America Why HR? I enjoy helping organizations meet their business objectives by having the right people in place at the right time, ready to make the right decision and deliver the right results. Philosophy: Life is good, do what you like, like what you do! Dawn’s role as President-Elect is to support the chapter President and prepare to take over the helm in 2018.

10 Keli Greer, SHRM-CP, PHR Treasurer
Position: Director of Human Resources Company: Town of Mooresville Why HR?: My commitment to public service manifested into ensuring that ‘good enough for government work’ would not apply in my community.  Philosophy: “The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese,” Steven Wright.  Keli’s responsibilities on the Board include developing and implementing strategies assuring the financial health of the chapter, sending dues notices and invoices, maintaining financial records, and disbursing funds.

11 Brandy Reese Communication Position: Director Human Resources
Company: Rentokil - North America Why HR? The ultimate business results are gained through people development. Philosophy: The best way to predict your future is to create it. (Abraham Lincoln) Brandy is responsible for informing members and external stakeholders of Chapter, HR and SHRM developments.

12 Laura Russell, SHRM-CP, PHR Co-Secretary
Position: Human Resource Manager Company: Michael Weinig, Inc. Why HR? I enjoy the dynamic landscape that makes up our profession and I am passionate about my ability to positively impact change. Philosophy: When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves. ~William Arthur Ward Laura’s responsibilities on the Board include providing notice of meetings, recording meeting minutes, and maintaining chapter records and history.

13 Gretchen Blevins, SHRM-SCP, SPHR Co-Secretary
Position: Finance Director/Contracts Manager Company: Iredell County Partnership for Young Children Why HR? The current workplace environment is complex and can be difficult to understand. I enjoy being able to help employees make sense of it all and be sure that they get all they are entitled to. Philosophy: Always live your life with honesty and integrity. Gretchen’s responsibilities on the Board include providing notice of meetings, recording meeting minutes, and maintaining chapter records and history.

14 Herman Bruno Programs Position: Managing Partner Company: Corps Partners Why HR? I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals. Philosophy: It’s all about people! Herman’s responsibilities on the Board include education and certification activities of the Chapter to promote and advance the HR educational needs of members. He is in charge of scheduling our monthly speakers and welcomes any and all suggestions.

15 Janell Snipes, SHRM-CP, MHRM Programs & Workforce Readiness
Position: Director Human Resources, North America Company: HAWE Hydraulik Why HR? I have always had a passion for helping people obtain their goals and achieve their dreams. Many times, their job/career is the foundation of the type of life they want to build Philosophy: Enjoy the world with your eyes and heart wide open Janell is responsible for coordinating opportunities for our members' organizations to support community programs aimed at preparing the workforce and local youth for tomorrow’s workplace. She also supports the education and certification activities including identifying our monthly speakers.

16 Erika Oliver, PMP Membership
Position: Field HR Consultant Company: Advisor HR, Inc. Why HR? People are the greatest resource so we say, but how do we maintain our humans? Organizational development and human behavior change are my passions. Philosophy: Eat cake and have fun! Erika’s role is to retain and manage membership. She can assist with any questions about LKNHR membership choices or when members want to be more involved.

Ellen Slane, SHRM-CP, PHR Certification Position:Human Resources Generalist Company: MacLean-Curtis, LLC Why HR? I enjoy helping others and love the challenges that I am faced with in this field. Everyday is something new. Philosophy: Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase. Martin Luther King Jr. Ellen is responsible for managing the chapter’s SHRM & HRCI certification program, providing timely information to members regarding updates on the SHRM and/or HRCI certification process, and encouraging members to become certified and recertified.

18 Stacy Wood, Governmental Affairs
Position: Employment and Labor Attorney Firm: Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP Why HR? I love partnering with employers to help them design, manage and carry out HR initiatives, with an eye towards minimizing legal risk and maximizing business performance. Philosophy: Promise good, deliver great! Stacy is responsible for monitoring and evaluating pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level that may have an impact on the management of human resources, and presenting any relevant legislative information or updates to fellow chapter members.

19 Jennifer Higgins Sponsorships
Position: HR Manager Company: AMTdirect Why HR? There’s never a dull moment. Change is exciting and no day is ever the same! People are always full of surprises and it’s a fun to get to work with such a variety of personalities on a daily basis. Philosophy: It is what is…until you make it what it isn’t. Jennifer is responsible for meeting people and inviting them to sponsor our chapter meetings when interested. Currently there are three tiers of sponsorship ranging for an annual sponsorship to a meeting sponsorship.

Position: Regional Director Company: Engage2Excel Why HR? HR is in charge of the most valuable asset of any company…the people.  Coming from a background of operations and process improvement, everything that moves the business forward comes from their people.  Philosophy: Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful Albert Schweitzer Victoria is responsible for meeting people and inviting them to sponsor our chapter meetings when interested. Currently there are three tiers of sponsorship ranging for an annual sponsorship to a meeting sponsorship.

21 Dorothy Sullivan SHRM Foundation
Position: Collateral Review Specialist Company: Wells Fargo Bank Why HR? I enjoy helping others reach their career goal and HR helps me achieve this goal. Philosophy: To treat others as I would like to be treated. (Matthew 7:12) Dorothy is responsible for coordinating opportunities to educate, promote, and represent the interests of the SHRM Foundation and its activities to the Chapter. SHRM Foundation is a non-profit group that provides HR research, as well as scholarships and awards.

22 Jennifer Covington, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, Volunteer Coordinator
Position: Office & HR Manager Company: Huber Technology, Inc. Why HR? Where can you find a career that keeps you more connected to people to assist in their possibilities than HR? Keeping the focus on people is my mission in HR, they write the chapters every day that keep a company on the must read-best seller list week after week and the cliffhangers can’t be beat! Philosophy: “Where there is a will there is a way” -  with some old fashioned ingenuity and a creative approach almost anything is possible! Jennifer is responsible for coordinating LKNHR members’ interest in volunteering  for things like the annual food drive, etc.) Volunteering is a great way to network, gain experience, bolster skills, plus improve our community. Are you in transition? This is an excellent way to enhance your resume and build a stronger network.

28 Programs and Credits As both a SHRM Approved and HRCI Approved Provider, our meetings allow attendees to gain credits towards their SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, and/or GPHR certification(s). With the help of our Education & Program Chair, we strive to have every monthly meeting both SHRM and HRCI approved.

Share you ideas to create a chapter experience for all members built the just the way you like it. Meet and fellowship with the chapter and board members. Suggest a speaker, program or other event.
