IOT, Key Factor for ITO Overtime of SDP Project
ITO of one SDP project was overtime more than 150 days. We found the IOT (interoperability testing) period is one of the key factor for the overtime. The IOT lasted more than 2 months. More than 20 patches was released to correct the problem in IOT. The IOT took more than 2 months of 3 engineers. Causes to impact the efficiency of IOT : Interface requirement is not accurate. The requirement is not validated. Cooperation of customer or other equipment vendor is not on schedule. Onsite IOT is parallel with software encoding. There is no effortless tool to Simulate system of customer and Huawei. Onsite engineer spent too much time to communicate with HQ. Lab testing is not sufficient with the interface part of software version. Page 2

Interface Simulating Tool, Improve the IOT Efficiency, Shorten the ITO
Advantage of Using Interface Simulating Tool: Complete the IOT within the FRS writing, validate the interface requirements, insure the accuracy of requirement. Make customer to complete IOT preparative before project kick-off, to shorten even avoid the project delay for the weak cooperation from customer or other equipment vendor. In HQ Lab, set up a simulative customer environment with the TCP packages dump captured by tool to test the software. Only one version delivered to onsite. Page 3

SDP Interface Simulating Tool in AM HUM Project
Remote using simulating tool, finished PAT ahead of schedule, improved software quality, lowered project delivery cost. Background AM HUB is company top 1 project. It connects with the Enablers in AM sub-networks in 17 countries by a great deal of interfaces. The project t also had many other risks. All software was newly coded. The project was under a pressed schedule. Some of hardware couldn’t be ready on time. To mitigate these risks, the project team begun to remotely use SDP Interface Simulating Tool when the FRS is writing, in Shenzhen lab to do the IOT. Outcome Using tool in the period of FRS writing, project team found out the interface document provided by customer has a great difference with opposite real network. With this tool, R&D can insure the software quality. Only one software version was released for the IOT with Enablers of sub-network. The time of the IOT was 5 days for 20 interface in 4 countries. The NAG only released 3 patches in the whole IOT. Project team (onsite team and HQ R&D) cut down a huge delivery cost. Project team remotely used tool in Shenzhen lab to do the IOT advance. It avoided the embarrassment of hardware which was not ready on time. It made the IOT be finished 1 month ahead of schedule. Page 5

SDP Interface Simulating Tool in Egypt Now+ Project
With simulating tool, validated the document of interface requirements, improved software quality, reduced the software version. Background In phase 1, project team used tool to simulate LIG to connect with the billing through Diameter (Delivered in phase 2) to validate the interface and capture the TCP package dump before software coding. Made customer setup the firewall and other system for phase 2, shorten the project time. Outcome Only 4 patches for Phase 2 Diameter. The time for Diameter IOT was shortened to 5 days. With former simulating test, the software quality was improved significantly. The onsite IOT became easier. With former simulating test, project team found the bug of customer system and pushed customer to fix it before phase 2 roll-out. The phase 2 was implemented more smoothly, and the schedule was ensured. After the onsite practice, project team gave out 6 suggestions. The suggestions is of great benefit for the simulating tool.
