Broadsheet Can you explain why this word was first used to describe
a particular type of newspaper?

Broadsheets Traditionally, UK newspapers could be split into two types. The serious-minded newspapers, originally called broadsheets due to their large size, are also referred to as the quality press. They focus more on political reporting or overseas news.

Tabloid

Tabloids The less serious newspapers, known as tabloids, and also referred to as "the popular press”. They tend to focus more on celebrity coverage and human interest stories.

Types of tabloid There are two types of tabloid: the sensationalist titles, or "red tops", such as The Sun and The Mirror, and the middle-market papers, The Daily Express and The Daily Mail.

masthead Why is the masthead rarely changed?
The bit at the top of the paper includes the name, date, price and logo. It rarely changes.

Headline What style of headline has The Sun used here?

Strapline The strapline is the subheading under the
main heading. It is an introductory second headline and gives extra information about the headline.

Editor The editor is in charge of his/her newspaper’s content i.e. what gets printed. Piers Morgan was sacked from his job as editor at the Daily Mirror after his newspaper admitted that photos of British soldiers abusing an Iraqi were fake.
