Middleton’s Career Mission:
To connect student interests to a future career that embodies the curricular components of Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Social Studies, Reading , English, World Studies and the Arts. To expose all students school-wide to future STEAM opportunities.

When do we implement? During Prescribed Advisory periods within the 3rd 9 weeks. Due date is May 2nd for the top 2 highest quality projects from each homeroom… voted by your homeroom students. Career fair of winning projects showcased in Media center for our students and parents on Conference night .

Essential Questions: Some questions that go through a students mind: Academic Focus – What steps must I take to reach my goal ?? Is College for me or is a Technical school a better fit? How do I choose a career that is right for me? How do I make myself marketable?

Student Grade Specific Focus Activities
9th Grade – Goal Setting 6 Year Plan 10th Grade – College and Career Major Fair. 11th Grade – Resume and Career Flyer; Sell your career. 12th Grade – Shark Tank presentation; Model, Board or PowerPoint.

What is the end Product ? Goal: End of the year Career Fair in the Gym, 4th 9 wks. (May 5th, 2015) going for the gold. (All products will be complete and be judged for the grand prize TBD) 9th grade end product – Portfolio of their pathway to reaching their goal.( CEO of their future ) 10th grade end product - College or Technical Major fair – Majors matched to all related jobs and careers – Project Board 11th grade end product –Market – Me Flyer Resume of themselves advertising their career, Income, Career Projection, Marketability Degrees and future – Project Board 12th grade end product – Shark Tank Capstone proposal presentation creating a business proposal to gain investment. Model, Board or powerpoint.

PLT Activity 9th Grade Teams: Brainstorm a Criteria that should be included in the Portfolio, Rubric & Timeline to complete. 10th Grade Teams: Brainstorm a list of high demand majors for students to choose from, Rubric & Timeline to complete. 11th Grade Teams: Brainstorm a list of high demand careers for students to choose from, Rubric & Timeline to complete. 12th Grade Teams: Brainstorm the criteria for the Shark Tank Presentations, Rubric and Timeline.
