ATTENDANCE You are expected to attend every class meeting! Students are allowed THREE UNEXCUSED ABSENCES.
11
excused absences vs. Unexcused absences
Excused absences are proven with written documentation, whereas unexcused absences have no documented verification.
12
BEHAVIOR Behavior: Follow the rules of student conduct outlined in your student handbook. “Major offenses, for which suspension or expulsion is appropriate, are those offenses which interfere with the mission of the College or interfere with others in the free exercise of their rights and duties or which involve danger or threat of danger to individuals or property …” (Student Handbook). Remember the rules of netiquette, appropriate online behavior ( s.html).

CELL PHONE ETIQUETTE Please turn off/silent cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices before you enter the classroom. If you are caught using a device—TALKING or TEXTING--during class time for nonacademic purposes, you will be warned for the first offence, but you will be asked to leave the class for the day and receive an absence for a second offence. The only other allowable usage of a cell phone is if you are an emergency worker and legally must keep your phone activated; if that is the case, please let me know at the beginning of the semester. Also, no photos, videos, or recordings are allowed of the instructor without MY consent.
14
LEAVING THE CLASSROOM DURING CLASSTIME
Also, to avoid distraction to your classmates, use the restroom before the class or during break to avoid having to leave the classroom. With the exception of our break, please only leave the classroom in emergency situations. Disruption slows learning!
15
Academic Dishonesty: Plagiarism will not be tolerated
Academic Dishonesty: Plagiarism will not be tolerated. The Student Handbook states that “acts of academic dishonesty, [include] but [are] not limited[ed] to, cheating on any test or examination, and plagiarism by the representation of previously written, published or creative work as one’s own.” As per our department policy, a student found guilty of plagiarism will receive a zero for the assignment!
