The Staff is like a blank piece of notebook paper
Notes are written on a staff They tell the musician what to play Notes can go “on the line” or “in the spaces” All notes have names Letters of the alphabet a-g The letters are different based on what clef appears at the beginning of the staff

Treble Clef “G” Clef – the swirl inside of the clef wraps around the G line Every Good Boy Does Fine for the lines Any acronym is fine, as long as it spells EGBDF The spaces spell FACE Ascending: Alphabetical Order (A-G) Descending: Reverse Alphabetical order

“F” Clef – the symbol has two dots that appear on either side of the F line
Good Boys Deserve Fun Always for the lines Any acronym is fine, as long as it spells GBDFA All Cows Eat Grass for the spaces Same rules Ascending and Descending as the treble clef Low instruments use this clef the most Bass Clef
