1 Re-relating with Sustainability
- CoCreative Process Inquiry and Regenerative Development & Design (Co-)Creative Teamwork –course for Master Program of Sustainability Terhi Takanen, PhD, Developer of CoCreative Process Inquiry

2 Co-CreativeProcess Inquiry (Takanen 2005, 2013)
Becoming aware Letting go Attuning Practicing

3 What is my orientation? Practice of CCPI
This course is an invitation to you to become aware of your orientation and how it is co-shaping groupwork and results Orientation means here ”colours of your inner landscape”, your way of relating to or with yourself, others and environment. Orientation shapes and colors how you are percepting, interpreting and acting” We will practice conscious orientation, which is embodied and alive – it is taking different forms in interaction We will form a shared compass in every small groups, as a ”living tool” to re-orient your thoughts, feelings and actions

5 Regenerative Development and Design
Based on an understanding of the inner working of ecosystems that generates design to regenerative underlying life support resources within sosio-ecological wholes Evolution is the ability of life to sustain itself Evolution’s primary driver is cooperation rather than competion

6 Regenerative Development and Design – a framework for evolving sustainability
Invites new ways of thinking-> open-ended, emergent thinking & acting How we learn to suspend our tendency to focus on content, knowlegde and problemsolving? How to redirect our energies towards learning in process, emerging potential and holistic understanding

7 Growing together – making a difference
Regenerative Development and Design & CCPI invites students to develop their capability to support their own and other’s evolution ->to make a difference in this rapidly changing world ->seeing the potential ->growing together in the team work ->combining practical/functional and renewing aims

8

9 The Compass is like a living organ.
It brigdes ”inner” and ”outer”, it supports to re-relate ourselves, other, this place, whole planet…

10 How CoCreative Process Inquiry could enrich regenerative development?
One big challenge of RD is how people can reshape their ways of thinking and acting How to make shift from thinking and acting which derives from mechanistic, or other way narrowed worldviews (eg. green building)

11 A Regenerative Practitioner (Mang and Haggard/Regenesis)
Be someone who awakens caring Honor complexity Be a work in progress A Co-Creative Process Practitioner (Takanen) Invites many ways of knowing and not knowing Is willing to practice her values in action Co-creates with others power with practices See opportunies of letting go and re-relating with Works from a mindful orientation

12 Reflections What happens if we set goal without setting aims for ourselves? What are differences between starting at ”regenerate” and ”operate” (Mang and Haggard/Regenesis)

13 Practices to attuning with Suomenlinna
What makes this place unique What gives it vitality and viability What is the source of its potential -> capability to evolve Feel this Place as a living entity, attune with aliveness of the Place See the patterns of interaction, patterns of nestedness Feel the energyfield, how this place feels

14

15 Regenerative Development Framework
Co-CreativeProcess Inquiry Humans as a part of ecosystem having special role as supporting wealth of this planet as reflective, developing participating evolution key role as partnering, not so much competing Earth as a living system -living complexity as a source of innovation and evolution Humans as relational beings, co-creators – having potential and ethical calling to become conscious co-creators taking responsibility Different ways of knowing: emotional, intuitive, bodily, intellectual->many ways reflecting (experiential, conceptual…) Earth as a living being

16 Co-Creative Process Inquiry ways of working in this course
Practicing different ways of knowing Orientation practices Reflecting interaction Experimenting- practicing with compass Becoming aware Letting go Attuning Practicing Self-reflective Evaluation Learning diary

17 A Mindful, Cocreative Visitor?
Being present in the here and now Appreciating and attuning with local place/ecosystem Seeing and feeling the potential Sensing and intuiting capacities Listening with compass/future organ ?

18 Criterias for regenerative and cocreative experiments
Is this experiment aligned with wisdom of nature/local ecosystem helping improve the ability of everyone involved to generate more value and grow (power with-stance) emerging from the future (re-relating with) connected to potential of bigger whole Are we practicing our living compass/shared orientations throughout whole experiment?

19 After classroom (Practicing)
Spend time together as a team in Suomenlinna with your compass/attune the Place Create first draft of experiment in the progress -what, how, why and with whom. Do this through compass qualities and practice compass in their group work. Make a visual image of the what and how, who and why -->to share in Tuesday. (Also what materials are needed?) Look videos. Start personal learning diary how compass qualities are/were practiced in their group and themselves. Compass is used as a self-evaluation tool – (four questions).
