3 Scientific problem Breast cancer is a disease that affects many people world wide. In Tanzania, it is estimated that 19,008 females have cancer and breast cancer account for 14.4 % of all reported cases. Using Wisconsin Breast Cancer datasets from the UCI Machine Learning Repository as use case is used to classify benign and malignant samples using WEKA. This aim to help doctors to distinguish breast cancer from benign samples 3

Work done during the Hackfest The following is work plan , tools and Implementation of the Use case in Hackfest. Selection of tools to be used in Development. Prepare Development environment which is Liferay and Future Gateway API. Analyse the work flow of the application to fit Future Gateway technology. Development of Application frontend in Liferay. Test the Development of the work done and observe the result. 4

8 Implementation of file conversion to WEKA.
Future plans (until end of July and until the Workshop in Dar es Salaam on 5th of September The plan is to finish the part that i could not be able to finish at hackfest because of the challenges and time constrain. To September I plan to do the following. Implementation of file conversion to WEKA. Display output in the application also add ability to download output from application. Add filters in the dataset before analysis Add other two common classifier to be accessible in the interface. 8

9 Summary and conclusions
First I would like to thank you #SciGAIA for this opportunity being here to explore different technologies. The experience I have gain from Hackfest is one of the best in my life in term of intellectual skills, environment, Culture and Networking with people from different countries. The platform Sci-GaIA is building is very important and valuable to developing countries in term of research collaboration, Technology ,Infrastructure and it add value to Open Science in general. 9

10 Summary and conclusions
We are happy to learn different technology we had good experience in Catania. My advice for next training or for the Training that we have done. To have well documentation of the technology more than presentations to let people have time to gain knowledge slow when we are back. To colleagues have to share this knowledge to had to others and create community that have skills for sustainability and stability to the whole society. 10
