3. Spartan Challenge
Around the school, there are posters with quotes or poems from popular novels, and a question or two that goes with each poster.
See if you can figure out what book the quote came from, go to the room # on the poster, and collect a prize!

4. Lathrop’s Got Talent Talent Exhibit Competition
Do you have a special talent? You might be a great artist, photographer, comedian, skater, writer, musician, singer, dancer, rapper, etc.
To kick off the new year, the Yearbook staff will be hosting a 2017 talent exhibit competition.

5. Rules:
All entries must be your own original work….. That means you created it.
For example:
-If you’re singing, it must be your voice that is heard.
-If you’re drawing, it must be your drawing (no tracing).
-If you’re writing, it must be 100% your words; nothing taken from online, a book, a movie etc.
Criteria:
Overall Performance
A judgement on the contestant's ability to present original material that draws a positive response from the audience with personality, originality, and poise.
Originality
The performer/artist’s ability to create a piece of work that is distinctive or different from the other performers. It takes creativity, ingenuity, confidence, and personality to present an original piece.
Creativity
A judgement based on the creativity of the performer(s).

Submitting Your Entry
If your entry is something physical, such as a model, poster, drawing etc., bring it to Ms. Wolff in room 218.
If your entry is something that is not physical (such as singing, playing an instrument, a comedy skit, skateboarding trick, etc.) please record a video and send it to Ms. Wolff at:

You can use a phone or your Chrome Book to record, and your Google Account to your entry.

You may submit more than one entry, but you can only win 1 prize.
It costs $1 for each entry:
(for example, if you enter 2 items, it will cost $2)
Bring money to Ms. Wolff in room 218 with your entry. If your entry was ed, you must stop by Ms. Wolff’s room.

10. BE RESPECTFUL:
Respect yourself, the school staff, your classmates, and property at Lathrop all times
Use appropriate language, tone and voice level
Raise your hand and wait to be called on
Pay attention to classroom activities
Listen to the teacher and other speakers
Ask before you borrow something

Respect the learning time by being on time, every period, every day
Be on time and prepared
Follow directions the first time they are given
Follow classroom procedures
Exit only when the teacher dismisses you

Turn in quality work on time

C % Average or Acceptable 2 Grade Points
D % Below Average or Unacceptable 1 Grade Points
F 0-59% Failing or Unacceptable 0 Grade Points
Letter grades of A, B, C are passing grades and you receive 5 credits for each class you pass.
D is considered an unsatisfactory passing grade; you receive 5 credits for passing but cannot move on to more advanced classes until you earn a C or better. Colleges will not accept D’s, you must pass a class with a C or better to meet admissions requirements.

What’s the difference between a resolution and a goal?
Discuss your definition with a neighbor and then as a class.

19. A resolution…is a decision that was made to keep…
A resolution…is a decision that was made to keep…. Resolutions made at New Years are promises to live a better and healthier life. It seems as a way to make changes in the current way of living and attempt to live a better and fuller life. Many people make resolutions on New Years, but according to research more than 80% people fail at keeping their resolutions. Resolution requires making long term changes and requires putting even more effort to maintaining them.

20. A goal…is a desired result that a person wishes to achieve
A goal…is a desired result that a person wishes to achieve. It is a target that a person wants to reach. It is an end-point of where a person sees himself after a certain period of time. Goals can be short term or long term. Short term goals are goals that are placed after a small amount of time, while long term goal require a life-altering decision. A person can also set personal goals as well as professional goals. Personal goals include a vision for personal things such as marriage, child, home, etc; professional goals are related to the professional aspect of life such as job, career and so on.
