How to move beyond the expected – key focus
It will become a destination of experiences and not just a retail strip in which to consume “stuff”. Offerings will be developed at a much greater rate and there will be an ongoing start- up phase– it will not be something you do once and set and forget. Experiences will need to be relevant and specific – avoid the generic that can be associated with other environments. Quality of product, place and people will be all important.

How to move beyond the expected continued
Communities that benefit more than just individual businesses will become valuable and the norm. It will be authentic and grounded in regional uniqueness. Personalised – think bespoke and handmade. Storytelling and the opportunity to connect with local, unique identities will be key. There will be Mainstreet legends and emerging creatives side by side. There will be hands on interaction with the product/service – not observing from a distance.

Role of tactical partnerships
It allows the two parties to create product and service offerings that do not currently exist in the market. It allows businesses the opportunity to work together to identify key gaps and continue to de-construct and re-build main street experiences on an ongoing basis. It never stops. It creates distinctly different experiences that cannot be found elsewhere hence there is greater incentive to visit and spend time exploring. It allows partners access to new markets that may not be possible if working alone.
