Valentine's day Valentine's Day (Saint Valentine's Day) is celebrated on February 14th. It is the traditional day on which people express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery.

Who's St Valentine ? There were many Christians names Valentine. According to the Catholic Encyclopaedia, at least three Saint Valentines are mentioned who are associated with 14 February. One is described as a priest at Rome, another as a Bishop of Interamna (now Terni in Italy) and the other lived and died in Africa.

In Britain the spring is associated by the wedding birds. This is the day where the bird chooses his female. The superstitions are associated to names of birds : examples : -if a woman saw a robinflying overhead, she will marry to a sailor, - if a woman saw a sparrow flying overhead, she will marry to a poor man but she will be very happy. - if a woman saw a goldfinchflying overhead, she will marry to a rich person.
