9 Role of Security The #1 priority of the Housing Security staff is to promote a secure environment for our residents, staff and visitors. Housing Security staff hours are from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. seven days a week. Check for, and document, unsecure and/or propped doors. Secure said doors. Check for, and document, any facilities issues i.e. busted water lines/pipes, exterior light outages, malfunctioning door locks etc. Check in with community desk staff on a routine basis. Security staff members are permitted to relieve desk staff for restroom breaks as needed. Confront, and document, all students and guests in public areas who are engaged in actions the staff member believes to be in violation of the law, Housing or university policies. Security staff members are expected to contact the RA/CA on duty, either directly or through the desk staff, when students and/or guests are acting in violation of policy.
