3 Middle School vs. High School
Independence! Responsibility! Speak up for yourself! Make smart decisions! High expectations and support for success! dYou are more independent- you aren’t always going to be a part of “group” or the old group you used to have in middle school. No this isn’t a bad thing….because of different schedules and classes you are going to have to be more independent and learn to eat lunch with different people, talk to that person in math class who you have never talked to before…etc! This is a big adjustment but it can be a good one. You have to take more responsibility-you are becoming more responsible for YOU and you now have more choices, choices about classes, friends, activities to participate in, choices about behavior… All choices have consequences and these consequences can be good or they can be bad. Your decision!! You have to speak up for yourself- in middle school your parents probably helped you if you got into a tough situation. In high school you will have to deal with situations on your own sometimes so you have to develop the ability to get advice from your parents and counselors, figure out how to solve the problem, and then take positive action.
