SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS FACTS SUPPORTS
went from 9 to 2 failing schools Westlawn, Dawson and Lakewood came off the failing schools list this year SUPPORTS PreK Feeder pattern Elementary schools showing growth Johnson and McNair have started meeting with the feeder schools to align supports Johnson will continue work towards improving the graduation rate; increased graduation rate from 62% to 85%. Continue our scholarship efforts; increased scholarships at Johnson by 257% New Programs to support student engagement: AVID, Advanced Manufacturing, Cybersecurity, Cyberpatriots Team, Greenpower Working with leadership to ensure administrators and teachers receive the necessary PD and support with rigorous and relevant instruction Instructional Directors meet frequently with the principal to support with plans for the upcoming school year

TRENDS All Elementary Schools met attendance goal of at least 95% Math Benchmarks increased in all ES schools ELEMENTARY CELEBRATIONS Average increase of math benchmark scores by 10 percentile points All schools have participated in Culturally Responsive Training and are implementing strategies in the equity trajectory NEXT STEPS Alabama Reading Initiative PD for teachers and administrators Provide all ES schools PBIS (Positive Behavior Support) training INSTRUCTIONAL FOCI Implement strategies to increase ELA proficiency Continued focus on acceleration of math

TRENDS Increase in math Schoolnet benchmark scores MS Celebrations Due to equity training the relationships between teachers and their students have improved Middle Schools met the districts attendance goal of at least 95% All schools have participated in Culturally Responsive Training and are implementing strategies in the equity trajectory Only district in the state that has a Project Lead the Way in every school. Next Steps Alabama Reading Initiative professional development Continue to work on classroom management strategies to address the disparity in disciplinary referrals Principals will use Student Surveys for classroom climate improvement plans Instructional Foci ELA – Integrate literacy strategies Instructional Partners will turn around the ARI PD to focus on the differentiation.

TRENDS Disparities between regular and honors Benchmark scores are large Math benchmarks increased overall HS Celebrations All high schools were trained in PBIS All schools have gone through Culturally Responsive Training Decrease in discipline referrals at Lee High School. The discipline referrals went down from 21% to 9% because of the relationships formed by teachers with students. Increased certifications in Career Academies Only district in the state that has a Project Lead the Way in every school. Next Steps Address District attendance goals through PBIS Address the disparities in discipline referrals Increasing supports for courses through AVID Electives and AVID support Identifying power standards in each course Principals will use Student Surveys for classroom climate improvement plans Instructional Foci Increased amount of Math PD to strengthen support in the Math curriculum
