4 The Names of God Task 2: Find out how the Qur’an and the Hadith are related. Which one can be compared to the Bible? What is different about it in comparison to our Bible? Muslim tradition gives many different names for God (some people say there are 99 names). These are found in the sacred texts of Islam: The Qur’an and the Hadith

Surah 1 In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, The Beneficent, the Merciful. Owner of the Day of Judgment, Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. Show us the straight path, The path of those whom Thou hast favoured. Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.

7 The Qur’an Task 6: Explore the Qur’an using this link (or the one on our Weebly) and make notes to the following: How many chapters does it have? What is interesting or surprising about it?

8 In your own words, what is the Qur’an?
Research and summarize from what you have learned so far, what is different between our Bible and the Qur’an? Use all six keywords (from Task 1) and write down how you would explain Islam and Muslim ideas about God to your younger sibling. Copy one chapter/ passage you find interesting from the Qur’an and summarize its meaning to you. Design a poster showing a positive light on Muslims on one side and a negative one on the other. Read the article ‘Qur’an does not cause terrorism…’ from our Weebly and justify: “If we are looking at terrorists/ terrorism, the Qur’an is not the problem but the way people interpret it.” Why is this statement true/ untrue? Choose your own tasks based on your confidence on the topic! Tip: Work at your own pace, this is not a race!
