Making Waves: Setting the Context
COPD is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the UK In 2012 COPD admissions accounted for over 1 million bed days in the UK (BLF 2016) People with COPD are limited by breathlessness but also experience lower levels of mental well-being when compared to age-matched populations. Pulmonary rehabilitation is proven to increase exercise capacity and health status but uptake is limited (BTS 2013)
