Role of the Athletic Department
Coordinate all athletic programs Communicate athletic and school system guidelines to student/athletes, parents, and coaches Oversee due process of student/athletes Enforcement of the Athletic Handbook Ensure we are following all MHSAA standards

Gate Fees Gate fees $5 Stand alone 9th/JV contests will remain $3
Annual passes remain - $30 adult, $25 Students In-season athletes are free for that season Student fee $2 (current LS ID) Gate will open 30 minutes prior to start of contest

Concussion Legislation
PA 342 and 343- Michigan Sports Concussion Awareness Laws- Effective June 30, 2013 Involved adults participate in an online concussion awareness training program. Provide educational resources to parents, athletes, and volunteers, and obtain a signed statement that is to be kept on record at school. Immediate removal of an athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion. Athlete must receive written clearance from appropriate health professional prior to return of physical activity.

Heat/Humidity MHSAA policy
30 minutes prior to start/60 minutes after start take temp and humidity readings Digital Psychrometer used to read temp and heat index Anytime Heat Index is above 95 degrees- special regulations regarding practice and contests go into effect. HI above 104 degrees- stop all activity Temp below 80, no need for any special regulations

Eligibility MHSAA regulation- Credit in 66% of class load- passing 4 out of 5 at LSHS LSPS policy- minimum 2.0 GPA- immediately eligible Probationary status- minimum 2 weeks ineligibility. Must raise GPA by .5 to regain eligibility.

Dependable, positive, work ethic, sportsmanship (good teammate) Honor the code of conduct (drug, alcohol, tobacco free) Maintain academic eligibility Perform to the best of ability on the playing surface Respect decisions of officials

Role of the Parent Support/Encourage your Son/Daughter to perform to the best of their ability Be aware of expectations from the coaching staff Model sportsmanlike behavior at all times Communicate with coaches to enhance positive relationship Be active in the athletic booster club Respect decisions of officials Be alcohol and tobacco free at all times on school property

24 hour rule (delay the contact) Non-team personnel not allowed in team area for games and practices- safety and security of all involved. Best and worst- part of the solution, not a part of the problem
