10. SPACE – An other domain for mutually beneficial collaboration
Astrium gained significant experience through past co-operation on KOREASAT 1 & 2, KOMPSAT 2.
The forthcoming COMS program (Communication Oceanography & Meteorological Satellite) and Kompsat series will provide excellent opportunities to reactivate and broaden the existing co-operation.
JV under construction to meet Korean’s expectation with regard to technology transfer.
Technical/technological collaboration to include key areas, such as satellite structural elements, thermal protection system, solar arrays panel structure, flight control equipments.
Further opportunities may exist in the Space Launching area, including launch complex.

11. Conclusion – From Korea as a customer to Korea as a Partner
Korea is a key country to EADS, and the Group is willing to develop structured industrial partnerships. Most of our
business divisions would be concerned.
This will support Korea’s strategy to develop its own capability
in the aerospace domain at the horizon 2015.
New Korean programs will be dimensioning for the future of the collaboration.
EADS looking forward to a better and stronger contribution from Korean industry to its supplier base.
