EU Truck Platooning Challenge: 1st project in Flanders for autonomous vehicles
Lots of press exposure Code of Practice for testing autonomous vehicles on public roads Outlines the framework Will be presented at the ITS congres this Wednesday Created a procedure for applying One stop-shop Federal level: Prototype approval (vehicle safety) Regional level (road authority): define testing boundaries and conditions in cooperation with OEM Created exemptions for each of the 4 participating OEM’s in Flanders

Build on the succes on the Challenge Continu to expand the “platooning network” in Flanders Invite sector federations FEBETRA, TLV, UPTR, FEBIAC Invite logistic partners Identify new opportunities: event at LEF centre 31 May OEM proprietry testing and first real-life cases Identify potential hurdles going forward Vehicle: Commercial activities with prototype? Driver: required training? Traffic safety: qualitative assessment vs quantitative assesment desired platoon behavior gap time vs entry/exists Flow of platoon vs flow of other traffic, especially on weaving sections
