What do we understand from the text we have read?
We give in to satan when we lie, cheat, steal or deceive others
It is a terrible thing to lie at all but even worse, to lie before God – you are testing God’s anger and judgment.
Every evil conspiracy and secret will eventually be revealed.

5. Sin in the temple of God is especially dangerous because God’s judgment can be instantaneous and fatal.
6. When you lie to the servants of God over your life, you are lying to God and He will expose you.

He is not limited by location or distance – Num 11:24-29
He is not bound to occupy a place or vessel; if displeased, He will leave – Judg 16:18-19; 1 Sam 4:10-11
His person is recognized even within the enemy’s camp – 1 Sam 6:1-6
Can be offended, with severe consequences – Mt 12:31-32

Why does the Holy Spirit leave and what happens?
Disobedience: God’s people are defeated by insignificant enemies – Josh 7:10-13
Disobedience: A mighty warrior becomes a weakling – Judg 16:17-21
Disobedience: Evil spirits torment the abandoned fellow – 1 Sam 17:14
Sin: Jerusalem destroyed after the Holy Spirit leaves the Temple – Ezek 10, 11

Conclusion: Reverence the Holy Spirit within you and He will empower you to succeed
The Holy Spirit was sent to us by the Father after Jesus returned to heaven so that He would help us succeed in our journey on earth and qualify for a return to heaven. If we keep our vessels holy and live in obedience, He will help us. If we live sinful and disobedient lives, He will depart from us. If we abuse or offend His person, we may suffer terrible consequences.
