Consent of the Governed
Declaration of Independence states the government should receive its power from the people This held true through the writing of the Constitution with Popular Sovereignty – consent of the governed.

Goals of the Constitution
Preamble – introduction that explains why the Constitution was written. 1. “To form a more perfect union.” This government should be better than the union of states under the AofC 2. “To establish Justice.” Establish laws and government fair to all. 3.“To insure domestic tranquility.” Should Preserve Peace within a nation
