Examples of NPS Pollution
Suspended Inorganic soil components (e.g., silt and clay) Organic components (e.g., manure, plant detritus) Pathogens (e.g. bacteria, protozoa) Dissolved Natural ions (e.g., Na+, Ca2+, Cl-, SO42+) – from chemical weathering of rocks and minerals Fertilizer-derived ions (NH4+,NO3-,PO43-) Pesticides Note: some of these can be attached to the surfaces of suspended material
