Christianity Bella, James and Tessa

What is Christianity? The religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ, or its beliefs and practices. Christianity teaches that there is only one God in all existence. God made the universe, the Earth, and created Adam and Eve.

Key figures Jesus: Jesus is the most influential figure in Christianity. He was a great teacher and a great prophet. Millions of people hail him as a saviour or Lord. Jesus was born to a virgin, and he lived a sinless life. Jesus claimed he had the power to forgive sins, to cast our demons, and to determine people's eternal destiny's. Jesus angered the political leaders of his day so they crucified him on a cross, but three days later, he rose from the dead Apostles: The word "apostle" means "to send forth". The apostles were called by Jesus to a special mission. Jesus chose these twelve apostles to eventually carry on his work. The apostles make laws, teach, and claim for their teachings so that it should be received as the word of God. They punish, administer sacred rights, provide successors, and they could receive new revealed truths in order to propose it to the Church.

Quotes from Life Of Pi “She heard "Hairless Christians", and that is what they were to her for many years. When I corrected her, I told her that in fact she was not so wrong; that Hindus, in their capacity for love, are indeed hairless Christians, just as Muslims, in the way they see God in everything, are bearded Hindus, and Christians, in their devotion to God, are hat-wearing Muslims.” “These people fail to realize that it is on the inside that God must be defended, not on the outside. They should direct their anger at themselves. For evil in the open is but evil from within that has been let out. The main battlefield for good is not the open ground of the public arena but the small clearing of each heart.”

Appeals The central teachings of traditional; Christianity are that Jesus is the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; that his life on earth, his crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension into heaven are proof of God’s love of humanity and God’s forgiveness of human sins’ and that by faith in Jesus one may attain salvation and eternal life. This teaching is embodied in the Bible, specifically in the New Testament, but Christians accept also the Old Testament as sacred. Christians share a certain set of beliefs that they hold as essential to their faith, though there are many important differences of interpretation and opinion of the Bible on which Christianity is based.

Theme of religion At times, Life of Pi reads like a defense of religion. Here's a protagonist who believes passionately in both zoology and religion. he is a protagonist who is Muslim, Christian, and Hindu – all at the same time. The book defends not only the common spirit behind these three religions, but the rituals and ceremonies of each. It's as if all three religions find harmonious common ground in this character. Pi protagonist argues passionately that the miraculous happens in our darkest moments.
