In any process, energy is never created or destroyed. It merely changes forms.

11. Heat Transfer:
Whenever the temperature of an object or substance changes, heat is being transferred. It travels only in one direction (Hot to Cold) and by three different methods. Heat is transferred from warmer areas to cooler areas by conduction, convection, and radiation.
Crust forming on the surface of lava is an example of a change of state by transferring heat from the hot lava to the cooler air surrounding the lava.
