1 Task-based Recruitment
Dinisha Manchanda Local Committee Vice President - Talent Management AIESEC in Delhi University

2 Brief Summary Membership in Delhi University is considered to be the key growing resource to achieve any set goal and thus, for the same reason Recruitment are given utmost importance. To bring the best pool of talent to the table and to make the selection procedure relevant enough, AIESEC in Delhi University adopts different selection criterions, given as follows: Registration Information Seminar Group Discussion Round Tasks Round Personal Interview Round

3 Why Nowadays due to “peer-pressure” and “follow the trend”, bright young individuals get themselves into situations or areas where they don’t really belong. Thus, to cut on to such situations, do proper membership filtration, to increase retention rate & membership productivity and, thus to align individual goals with organizational goals, the 5-Phase Recruitment Model was formulated and implemented, with major emphasis on ‘information seminar’ and ‘tasks round’.

4 Tasks Round The Tasks Round involves the candidates doing portfolio specific tasks for a period of 5 days, this works two way, firstly it helps give the candidates a first-hand experience of working in AIESEC and it also provides them with a clearer picture of what they would be expected to do, if selected. Secondly, it helps us in assessing where the true potential of the candidate lies, and thus acts an asset in the allocation procedure. The tasks involved evolve around the front office portfolios.

5 For instance: Task 1: Student Registrations. The task is to convince fellow students to go on an AIESEC international internship in the coming year. Task 2: Company Registrations. The task is to convince corporate employers to expand and benefit their business by recruiting international HR into their organization. The international interns bring a different perspective, increase the sales and also help build a brand in the market. Task 3: NGO/Foundation registrations. The task is to convince NGOs/Social charitable trusts and NGOs to take interns from AIESEC. The interns work in Delhi with the NGOs around the cause the NGO is based on. They work for a six week period and are mostly available post March and April every year.

6 Contribution to Operations
So the Phase 4 of Recruitment is Tasks Round, which has it’s major contribution to operations, since all the tasks that the candidates are made to do during the entire selection procedure, are front office portfolio centric, i.e, they are based on operations. Operations being one of the major focuses, the tasks round helps in generating leads which are sufficiant for an entire quarter, thus boosting operations, and indirectly increasing membership productivity.
