1 Thinking of the World in Spatial Terms and Uses of Geography
Congrats! You graduated from Basic Police Academy! You and your partners are on your first major field assignment. Police utilize a variety of geography tools in order to investigate and solve cases. You and your partners will use the same geography tools to outline, plan, and illustrate your case for documentation.

2 Step 1 WG.1.2, 1.3 Somewhere in the world, a crime took place. You and your partner will find a location using map coordinates and then illustrate a map of the area. Create three maps of the city: political, physical, and thematic (you choose the theme). Label each map with: 1) Title 2) Compass Rose 3) Scale 4) Legend 5) Coordinates

3 Step 2 WG.1.2, 1.3 Zoom into your city to focus on just the small neighborhood or other area where your crime took place. Create a roadmap showing where the crime took place, to where you found evidence, to where you found the suspects. Write a narrative that follows your roadmap using compass directions for your police report.

4 Step 3 Write a detailed police report.
WG.1.1, 1.2, 1.3 Write a detailed police report. Explain what geographer’s tools you used to help you solve the case.
