What’s an adjective? A word that describes a noun is an adjective. Ex:
El muchacho pelirrojo es muy guapo. La muchacha morena es una alumna muy buena. What’s an adjective?

In English, the adjective almost always comes before the noun.
Ex. The serious students In Spanish, the adjective usually comes after the noun. Ex. Los estudiantes serios (adjective) (noun) noun adjective

In Spanish, an adjective must agree with the noun it describes or modifies.
If the noun is feminine, the adjective must be in the feminine form.

Examples: Un muchacho gracioso. Una muchacha graciosa.
Un alumno serio. Una alumna seria. Examples:

Adjectives that end in –e match both genders.
Ex. El maestro inteligente. La maestra inteligente.

Many adjectives that end in a consonant match both genders.
Ex. El amigo joven. La amiga joven.

Some adjectives that end in a consonant add –a to form the feminine singular. These exceptions have to be memorized. Ex. El chico trabajador. La chica trabajadora.

To make an adjective plural, add –s if it ends in a vowel; add –es if it ends in a consonant.
Ex. Las chicas trabajadoras Los chicos trabajadores
