CROUPIER AS A JOB.

A croupier or dealer is someone appointed at a gambling table to assist in the conduction of the game, especially in the distribution of bets and payouts. Croupiers are typically employed by casinos. Originally a 'croupier' means one who stood behind a gambler, with extra reserves of cash to back him up during a gambling session. The word comes from 'croup' and it was also by analogy the person who rides a horse. Later it comes to refer to the person who was employed to collect the money from a gaming-table. Training methods to become a casino croupier vary from one country to another. In North America, blackjack is always the game that dealers learn first, as it is simple and popular, and when the dealer makes mistakes, they tend not to cost the casino much money. In Europe, croupiers usually learn roulette first. Complex, busy games such as craps, with complicated payout systems, etc., are usually reserved for the most competent and/or ambitious dealers

The most important thing to become a croupier is to have a good education, because you have to deal with people who lose lots of money every day on th casino. Before we started working, we did a 6 month course in which we had to practice maths and be respectful and have good manners.

I chose my job because I thought it was a different job. Since I was a child I liked to move things and so on and I considered myself quite qualified to move cards or pieces of the games. No, for example, I´m so bad at Maths, but I can work as croupier thanks to the before mentioned course, you get this ability. If you practice and study hard you can get this course and work as a croupier without problems.
