6 SHEP South East Transition – High Flyers and Pre-Application Interviews High Flyers: each June, students from low-progression schools spend a week (with a residential stay in university halls) exploring in more detail what higher education is like, via a variety of workshops on university study, finance and the social side of student life. Pre-Application Interviews: One-to-one guidance interviews for LEAPS eligible school students. In 2013, 728 interviews were conducted in SHEP schools for S6 students. A successful pilot offering interviews to S5 students in ten SHEP schools was carried out in 2013 (295 interviews) - extended to all 19 schools in 2014.

7 SHEP South East Transition – LEAPS Summer School
Summer School is for LEAPS eligible students holding one or more UCAS offers. It lasts seven weeks and students undertake three courses (including Learning Skills), taught and assessed at degree-level by staff from a range of universities. 46 students from SHEP schools graduated from Summer School in 2013. Summer School reports summarise individual student performance across the seven week period and help HEI admissions staff assess a student’s ability, particularly if the student does not achieve their entry conditions.
