YOUR NEW TOOL

3 Scouting Alumni Network 1.0
What is the single worst thing that you could do with the NESA/Scouting Alumni Association database ?

4 The needy relative …. Imagine with me ...
You have a distant relative that you haven’t seen in more than 20 years. Sure, you played together a few times at family reunions when you were both children and you think that you remember that you had fun … but that was a long time ago ... You haven’t haven’t had any contact with them – no birthday cards, no holiday cards, no family renunions ... You don’t know if they are married and whether they have any children ... You aren’t even Facebook friends with them. Then, one day ...

5 The needy relative …. Then, one day ... You receive a letter from them. Hmmm. “HEY COUSIN, so good to reach out to you. I could really use some money. Could you spare a few thousand dollars. You know, for me, your cousin. We’re family! Please send a check to P.O. Box ... How would that make you feel ? Would you be inclined to send a check ?

6 The needy relative …. If so, how would B.S.A. alumni feel if they had very little contact with our organization for many years and then, suddenly, received a letter asking them to donate money ? Would they be likely to be excited? Would they be likely to send a large check? What might they think instead … ? Is there an alternative ... ?
