2. Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007
Public Law (August 3, 2007) Directs DHS to
“establish and implement the voluntary private sector preparedness accreditation and certification program”
Goal: to Improve Private Sector Preparedness in
Strive to build a Resilient Nation
Acquire full Private Sector support and participation
Prepare the Private Sector and communities to withstand a catastrophic event and quickly return to a state of near normalcy.

3. Current Activities
Publication of Proposed Standards in Federal Register for public comment
NFPA Standard on Disaster / Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs, 2007 Edition. “ …a common set of criteria for preparedness, disaster management, emergency management, and business continuity.”
BS Business Continuity Management. “defines requirements for a management systems approach to business continuity, and integrates risk management disciplines and processes.”
ASIS SPC Organizational Resilience: Security Preparedness, and Continuity Management Systems “…and defines requirements for a management systems approach to organizational resilience.”
