Attributes STUDENT STAFF/SOLICITOR
Must work alone – do not collaborate or rely on others’ work Some alone work but lots of collaboration and information sharing Should know answers or be able to research the answers to almost any question Recognised specialties and ability to consult others for gaps in knowledge Questions and Answers somewhat “neat” – may relate to one or two areas of law only “Wicked” problems in real life – many areas of law Training to identify the dispute and resolution – rule and outcome oriented Yes but must also be strategic and provide advice to avoid future problems Limited encouragement or time for reflection (Necessary) constant evaluation – in interests of competency, efficiency etc Level of life experience Awareness of clients’ issues Others?
