2 The categories for the 2016 Awards are in line with the current NJUG Vision for Street Works
Safety - Having a competent, caring and responsible work force whilst carrying out street works to ensure sites are kept to a high standard, through compliance with the ‘Safety at Street Works and Road Works’ Code of Practice and working with other road users to minimise road occupation where safe and practical to do so. High Quality – Continuously focusing on improvement and high quality, and the achievement of ‘right first time’ in all aspects of carrying out street works. Minimise Disruption – Working with local authorise to minimise disruption through effective planning, co-ordination and delivery of works, including traffic management utilised for the right duration to avoid unnecessary occupation. Keep the Public Fully Informed – Communicating effectively on all aspects of street works before they take place and whilst in progress, where they impact on the public and local business. Sustainable Methods and Materials – Taking all practical steps to maximise the use of sustainable methods and materials and minimising the impact on the environment. Avoid Damage to Underground Assets - Taking all reasonable steps to ensure damage to underground assets is avoided. Innovation - Actively seeking, promoting and adopting innovative ways of working using technologies, materials and equipment to reduce the impact of street works. Attendees at the NJUG Awards will also have the opportunity to vote for which three of the seven winners will go forward and be considered for a new Street Works award at the Utility Week

3 Description For the convenience of the judging panel, please explain your submission in one sentence Executive Summary Please delete this text and include again the title of your submission followed by details of your initiative that supports and demonstrates delivery of the NJUG Vision for Street Works, to a maximum of 1000 words in text and no more than 4 pages per submission including supporting evidence / photographs. Submissions should focus on: -How you have met the Vision and which category your initiative supports -The initiative must demonstrate ‘excellence in the delivery of street works’. It should reflect an advancement in innovation and quality when compared to the current high standards already happening in the field -Benefits arising from the project/initiative (e.g. reduction in accidents; benefits to environment, community and/or reputation; financial benefits etc.). The summary MUST substantiate the benefits that have resulted; otherwise it is unlikely to be considered
